About Fine Art Prints

Besides licensing images for reproduction purposes and publishing books, note cards and calendars, Paul Rezendes produces high quality, custom-made fine art prints in limited and non-limited editions. The process begins with Paul's winning combination of excellent technical skills and years of natural history experience to capture his artistic vision onto fine-grain film, with Velvia 50 being his film of choice. Paul's equipment consists of a large format Toyo 45AII camera and a medium format Pentax 67II camera, mounted on a Gitzo tripod, with many lenses for each outfit. In the creation of his photos, Paul sometimes uses graduated neutral density filters, a polarizer, and/or a warming filter (81B), but no color-enhancement filters.

All Paul's photographic prints are custom-made, museum-quality LightJet prints. Paul sends the original transparency film to be scanned by his professional photo lab to create the highest quality resolution digital scan available. (These large 50 x 60 scans are equivalent to shooting a 500 megapixel camera, creating files of up to 1500MB, far surpassing the current capability of digital cameras. This enables Paul's prints to be readily used as large format fine art prints.) The scan is then processed by a laser LightJet printer and directly exposed onto the finest, long-lasting, archival photographic paper. Paul approves each print via a test proof prior to the final printing. Resolution and detail of LightJet prints are superb and are maintained even at sizes as large as 60 x 120 inches. The quality of these photos is such that one of Paul's prints, entered into competition by his photo lab, won first place in the Digital Photography Printing Category at the annual conference of the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association in 2006.

Selecting Prints

The prints above are all limited editions** and serve as a small sample of Paul's photos available as fine art prints. Please peruse our Portfolio page for more selections and to access our online catalog of stock photography. When making your print selection, make note of the Photographer Code number. (Additional images are available from our general film stock not available online. Contact us for more information.) Paul signs all limited edition prints and includes a certificate listing title, number and edition. Please note that not all images are available as limited editions.

We are continually adding to our fine art print selection and the images highlighted on this page will change periodically, so check back often.

**A limited edition print is one whereby the photographer guarantees to produce a limited quantity of prints per edition. As the number of prints sold gets higher and therefore gets nearer the end of availability, the value increases and there is a corresponding increase in the price of the print.
